Giclée (jhee-clay) is a French term, in this case meaning spray of ink. An iris ink jet print on canvas or watercolor paper is known as a Giclee. The canvas is affixed to a drum and as the drum rotates at high speed, individual droplets of ink are sprayed onto the surface at a rate of 4-5 million droplets per second. The Iris 3047 digital ink jet printer utilizes the most archival water-based organic inks available in the world. Once completed, UV light retardant and light stabilizer post-coatings are used. The result is a museum-quality print. This is a much higher quality product compared to the standard four-color art poster.
